Vancouver Painter Tips – How to Paint Expansion Joints

It is important to realize that painting concrete can increase the value of your home. At the same time, doing so makes the surface easier to clean and attractive. On the other hand, painting concrete expansion joints requires ample preparation because it can be a challenging job if you do not have any idea on how to do it.

Step 1: The first thing that you have to do is to prepare the tools required to accomplish the job such as a broom, expansion joint sealer and a caulking gun. Once you have all the necessary tools for the job, start by sweeping the concrete expansion joints with the broom. Make sure that the expansion joints are free of dirt and any form of debris and then prepare the concrete slab for the painting job to be done.

Step 2: The next thing that you need to do is to place a tube of concrete joint sealant into the caulking gun. Once the gun is loaded; press the trigger of the caulking gun to release the sealant from the tube. Make sure to hold the tip of the sealant tube near the top of the expansion joint and then fill its entire length with the sealant up to the top and once you are done filling everything up, allow it to dry to the duration as instructed by the sealant’s manufacturer as noted on its package.

Step 3:  After letting it dry, place the paintbrush into the concrete paint and then brush the concrete paint onto the top of the concrete joint sealer and then paint the entire length of the joint. Continue repeating this process until everything has been completely painted and then let them dry. Keep in mind to use paint that is specially made for concrete since they are long-lasting effect.

It may be a bit difficult at first but you will eventually get the hang of it. On the other hand, you can always employ the services of painting contractors in Vancouver or any Vancouver painting company.
